The Principle and Application of Pm Monitor

Ⅰ. Introduction of the PM Monitor

The respirable particulate matter content is one of the most important indicators of air quality. Combining years of experience in developing environmental and safety monitoring instruments and the latest domestic and international demands, we have launched the new generation of DPM-6000 atmospheric particulate matter monitor with high accuracy, reliability, stability and economy. It can measure PM10, PM2.5 and dust particles of other sizes, and is widely used in ambient atmospheric monitoring for RSP concentration detection.


Ⅱ. Principle of the PM Monitor

The monitoring principle of PM Monitor is mainly based on atmospheric particulate enrichment technology and beta-ray attenuation method. The instrument enriches particulate matter with aerodynamic equivalent diameter less than 2.5 /10μm on a rolling filter membrane. The PM measurement device uses low radiation 14C as the radiation source. The emitted beta-rays pass through the filter membrane with contaminants and are picked up by the detector. The detector consists of a photomultiplier tube (or Geiger detector), a plastic scintillator and a counter. Concentration of PM2.5 / 10 in the air can then be calculated by quantifying the thickness of the enrichment based on the beta ray energy received by the detector. Continuous air monitoring system may also be useful for people to detect air quality.

3. Ambient air quality monitoring and mobile air monitoring experimental stations.


4. Occupational disease studies and long-term background environmental studies.


5. Secondary emissions monitoring (coal storage areas, terminals, etc.)
